Training for Safeguarding Focal Points A strong system needs a strong focal point. Many NGOs appoint someone to this role but don’t give them the tools and confidence to lead. That’s why I offer a 4-module training program designed specifically for safeguarding focal points working in NGOs. It combines international standards with hands-on practice and local context. This four-module training equips participants with the practical skills and confidence to lead Program Structure (Total: 16 hours, or 2 training days) Module 1: Safeguarding Basics and Policies (4 hours) • Key definitions and principles of safeguarding • Core components of a strong safeguarding policy • Adapting policies to your organizational context • Safeguarding risk assessment Module 2: Survivor-Centered Approach (4 hours) • Principles of survivor-centered support • Do's and don’ts when someone discloses harm • Referral pathways and follow-up • Includes roleplay with professional actors (adds realism and deepens practice) Module 3: Other Elements of the Safeguarding System (3 hours) • Safe recruitment and onboarding • Safeguarding in your contracts • Self-care and burnout prevention for focal points Module 4: Investigation of Safeguarding Incidents (5 hours) • When and how to initiate an investigation • Steps, roles, and documentation requirements • Case studies and best practices Training is available in English or Ukrainian, online or in person. Participants leave with a certificate — and real capacity to lead. Optional: Individual Coaching Support After completing the training, participants can opt into a coaching program to receive tailored
